Between April, 2018, and mid-summer, the Crozet Connector Trail will be closed at the location of construction of the Eastern Avenue extension (to the east of Summerdean Road in Westhall). A temporary detour has been developed.
1.) When heading east (away from Crozet Park) – approximately .15 miles from the park, exit the trail to the right and cross a pedestrian bridge which leads to a paved trail up the hill to the intersection of Summerdean Rd. and Jonna St. Turn left to follow Jonna St. less than a quarter mile. When you reach the grassy slope on your left — it’s across the street from a pond — follow the flags down the slope, across the small stream, and then turn right to resume the trail.
2.) When heading west (toward Crozet Park) – watch for the detour sign immediately after you pass the cleared grassy slope on your left. Follow the flags across the stream and up the grassy slope. When you get to Jonna Street, turn right and follow the sidewalk to the intersection of Summerdean Rd., where a paved path on your right leads back downhill to the trail.
Caution — the grassy slope is steep, please be careful!
We plan to install a temporary bridge over the stream, and mow the path up the slope, soon.
