Volunteer Mike Davis has created a video that shows the Crozet Connector. If you’ve never seen it, it’s fun to watch. If you walk it all the time, listen to Mike’s impressions of our beautiful greenway.

Meet at the intersection of Rowcross Street and Golf Drive in Old Trail at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, May 27 to help rebuild and widen a section of the trail along Lickinghole Creek. This is a beautiful, secluded section of trail but its location on a steep hillside continues to challenge us to maintain a safe, accessible route. We will be using shovels, rakes, and other tools to widen the trail and reinforce it. Wear long pants and sturdy shoes or boots (no sandals or flipflops). Work gloves and bug spray recommended! Bring your own water.
Sign up here so we know how many tools to bring and so we can contact you if weather requires a postponement. But feel free to show up even if you don’t sign up. Come when you can, leave when you must!
Use the address 3452 Rowcross St, Crozet to navigate to the meeting area. Please do not block mailboxes or driveways.
The trail from Park Ridge Drive to the Crozet Connector Trail has been closed. We are working with Albemarle County Parks and Recreation to find an alternative that does not infringe on private property. Until then, we recommend you enter the trail where it passes underneath Eastern Avenue, approximately ½ mile west.
I promised to let you know whether we would meet at the brewery or at Crozet Park. I’m throwing my trust behind the weather app that tells me Thursday’s rain will hold off until later that night, so we’ll meet at Pro Re Nata, 6135 Rockfish Gap Turnpike, Crozet, at 6:30. Come a little earlier if you want to order something to eat or drink while we meet.
We welcome anyone who is interested in getting involved, or just learning about, the work (and fun) of the Trails Crew! If you’re new to Crozet, and haven’t yet found the trails, here’s your chance to meet some great people. Our next meeting will be Thursday, April 27, 6:30-8:00 p.m. outdoors at Pro Re Nata. I will do my best to find a table in easy view of the big parking lot, but if you are planning on coming and want my phone number in case you need to text, send an email to terrim@CrozetTrailsCrew.org
If you’re looking for an opportunity to get involved in Crozet, and want to do something that’s fun, rewarding, and sociable, our meeting is a great place.
Take a break from taxes and clear your head with a spring walk to a hidden gem. Lickinghole Basin is an exciting destination, one of the best places to see birds in Albemarle County. Even if you’re not an avid birder, it’s a beautiful walk, and we may see the bald eagles nesting across the lake.
Meet at the entrance to the Dog Park at Claudius Crozet Park promptly at 1:00 to join the Trails Crew on a walk out to Lickinghole Basin and back. Total distance is approximately 4 miles on dirt and grass trails. We will probably take about 1.5-2hours. Wear sturdy shoes and bring your own water. Bug spray highly recommended, as it is always tick season!
Keep an eye on our web site in case we have to cancel due to weather.
